Meet the Chiropractor

David Owen, Chiropractor

BSc. Human Sciences(Chiropractic), MSc (Chiropractic), DC

David’s first career was as a specialist laboratory scientist but, with the support of his lovely wife Daryl, he decided on career change while on an OE. He undertook a five year course of study, obtaining a Masters degree from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in Bournemouth, England in early 2000. Somehow they managed to have two children during this time.

In 2003, David and Daryl and the kids moved back to New Zealand and settled in Whakatane. It was there they established the Koru Clinic which specialised in pain and injury management. Over the years, David has had the privilege of helping over 7,500 patients find relief from discomfort, and regain their vitality.

Relocating to the charming community of Clevedon to be closer to family in 2024 allows David to bring his expertise to a new group of individuals who deserve the best in musculoskeletal care.

David is dedicated to an evidence-led chiropractic approach and believes in thorough functional assessments and a gentle and precise approach to treatment. Unlike the traditional "cracking" associated with chiropractors, he primarily utilizes the Impulse IQ instrument. This device delivers a computer controlled, very precise adjustment at 100x the speed of what can be delivered by hand. This allows adjustments to be delivered in a relaxed lying down position - no twisting needed.

Part of the evidence led approach is an emphasis the importance of not only spinal adjustments but also a comprehensive understanding of your overall health, including stress, lifestyle factors, exercise, and nutrition.

When David is not working he’s pretending to be a farmer on their lifestyle block and curating some native bush on their land. David and Daryl are also keen rock ‘n’ rollers, which is good fun and great exercise!
